Laparoscope

Laparoscope or binocular surgery is a surgery, which is done through the abdomen wall, inserting a binocular camera into the abdomen. Compared to conventional surgery, which causes a 10 cm incision, this surgery only causes a 1 cm incision. Laparoscope can be executed in Awal Bros Hospital with a well-trained gynecology laparoscope surgery team.

Laparoscope surgery is as safe as conventional open surgery. This procedure can be used to perform a tubal ligation (a surgical procedure to sterilize a woman), repair a hernia, remove organs such as the uterus, fallopian tubes, bladder, spleen, gallbladder, ovaries, kidney, or appendix.

Laparoscope Preparation

Patients may be asked to avoid eating and drinking anything for several eight hours before the procedure. Tell the doctor about medications taken, there may be certain medicines that should avoid taking before the surgery.

Patients will probably be able to go home on the day of the procedure, but in some cases, patients will need to stay in the hospital overnight. Some patients feel sore around incisions after the surgery, some also having shoulder pain, but these symptoms would not persist. There is a very small risk of more serious complications. Be sure to tell the doctor if patients have persistent or worsening pain after a few days, fever or chills, nausea, fainting or feel light-headed, redness or swelling at the surgical site, inability to urinate, and bleeding from the incisions after the procedure.
