Panoramic is one of the Rontgen photos that’s used in dentistry to get an entire depiction of all teeth. Panoramic is a noninvasive test that shows the entire mouth area — all the teeth in both the upper and lower jaws — on a single x-ray. This x-ray detects the position of fully emerged as well as emerging teeth, can see impacted teeth, and help diagnose tumors or oral cancer. Panoramic can also detect oral cysts, Temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ), or sinusitis.  This examination is also used to plan treatment for full and partial dentures, braces, extractions, and implants. Panoramic photos are suitable for children, youngsters, as well as adult patients.

How Do You Prepare For Panoramic X-Ray?

Patients will be asked to remove some or all their clothes during the exam. They may also be asked to remove jewelry, removable dental appliances, eyeglasses or any metal objects or clothing that may interfere with the x-ray images.  Women should inform if there is any possibility that they may be pregnant.
